One of the newest mixed commercial residential projects in London is Rathbone Square. A large development just off Oxford street, Rathbone Square contains flats, restaurants and the offices soon to be occupied by Facebook.
Traversing through the jade arches on either side of the square removes one from London and plants them within a secluded garden. The inner garden within Rathbone Sqaure is an inviting and social space with water features and plant life to drag you out of feeling in a dense city.
This project was bought to life by Make Architects and Great Portland Estates. Credit should be given to them both as what has been made is a peaceful public square that will support social engagement when they could have easily developed over the entire space with luxury flats and box offices to the ire of the local populous.
